What do I need for a good home bar?
I want to invest about $150 in barware and liquor. What would you recommend? I already have tequila, vodka, rum, and a couple bottles of wine. I don’t have any barware except for plenty of glasses and bottle openers. I’d like to have some stuff the ladies would like too, but I don’t know how to make many drinks. Recommendations?
You will need a Boston Shaker, which is two metal cups, of different sizes usually 16 and 24 oz $10 or less together I paid $3.50 and $4.90 respectively, highball glasses, and stemmed (martini) glasses, a jigger/pony combo measure $5 or so, I paid $4 , a muddler to crush fresh ingredients I paid $2.20 for two, a squeeze bottle for simple syrup I paid $1.60.
A citrus press makes things easier.
Look up the drinks you want to make and stock up on the ingredients necessary.
Southern Comfort is not a Bourbon, but it’s more popular with the ladies.
Try to use fresh ingredients whenever possible, most mixers suck.
You’ll need Ice, and sugar to make simple syrup with.
