POS Team History
No POS equipment, many of the monetary transactions that take place, would be more difficult to accomplish. The difficulty of not have something in place to carry out a transaction was discovered in the 1870s in Dayton, Ohio saloon. A man by the name of James ran a business Ritty success in this room. As a matter of fact, it was considered an incredible dealer in cigarettes, cigars, wines and whiskeys. But like everyone else, that had a problem. The problem was dishonest employees steal money from customers instead of depositing the way they were supposed to.
A breakthrough
When Ritty was on a trip to Europe, was mesmerized by a counter which counts the number of revolutions made by the propeller of the boat. This was done for reasons maintenance. When he returned to Dayton, arrived with his brother and worked on the idea of creating a device to keep track of monetary transactions to avoid dishonesty. In 1879, they had the first cash register in operation. They called it "the Incorruptible Cashier Ritty.
Soon after, the brothers Ritty opened a factory in Dayton where they could make these cash registers and sell them to other companies to help them with their problems of lack of honesty. It was several years after Jacob H. Eckert bought the business of Rittys' and created the National Manufacturing Company in 1881. Later, John Patterson bought the company and continued Eckert making improvements to the cash register. In short, the cash register paper rolls used to track transactions and offer receipts.
Systems modern day
Modern systems are much different days to the systems developed in the 1800s and even very different from the systems used a decade ago.
In the 1970s, the cash register was first developed computer-driven. This was done to the largest enterprise environments. Each record is linked to a central computer that would track the operations of each record. The central unit may also control certain records.
In In late 1980, began operating the cash registers of PC technology, which meant a lot of basic PC functions could be found in a cash register. Not like today, however. Today, there are the cash registers with touch screens and LCD screens. The customer can see everything that is happening on the screen to ensure the accuracy of the items you have purchased.
Along with these cash registers came the credit card machine. Only in the last two decades have machines credit card processing had an effect. Even in the last decade, businesses are still exploring card information via a small handheld carbon copy. When the card is placed on carbon paper, the card reader through this card device and copy on paper. The consumer then signed and the merchant can charge card contact the credit card company.
Today, it is much faster when the card is swiped through a machine and communication with the credit card company is instantaneous. The appropriate mechanism is either established as a separate device on a machine in order to pass the client or device is integrated in the cabinet register for the pass box. The box also can slide through a small standalone device. So far, companies are able to make cards credit, cash and checks. This expands their business opportunities enormously.
So if you need a little POS equipment to help grow your business available. You can find the perfect register and the credit card company to find the machine perfect for a low fee machine help you carry out your transactions.
