You are using the term whiskey incorrectly. You mean to ask about distilled spirits. Whiskey is a term for a variety of grain-based spirits that are bred in wooden barrels. Bourbon and different types of scotch whiskey, but the vodka, rum and tequila are not. The standard for most of the distilled spirits is 40% alcohol by volume (% vol x2 = test) or 80 degrees. " Before there were some states allow grocery stores to sell diluted versions of about 40 tests, but I have not seen that in quite time. Most times, if you walk into a liquor store and pull a bottle from the shelf – if it's the vodka, rum or tequila, is going to be 80 degrees. Some exceptions would be Wild Turkey 101, "barrel-proof whiskey, Bacardi 151. These are often called "overproof" spirits.
