Assemble an emergency kit SHTF … sterilizer?
I'm doing an emergency preparedness kit. I have all the grounds on which, some foods perishable, first aid kit, waterproof, TP, knives, etc, etc. .. How do I add sterilizer should it? Rubbing alcohol? Hydro-peroxide? Iodine? Rum or whiskey? (Seriously, is rum or whiskey good for sterilization, and would also be good for other things if SHTF)
Personally peroxide to help follow the "bubble" of dirt from the wounds and I also keep alcohol around but are mainly based on a large bottle of Betadyne to kill bacteria. My experience with Betadyne has been very good for skin infections. As for "drinking" alcohol … goes to work to help kill some bacteria, but why waste it? Since you are making a survival kit for when things go wrong, having a little vodka or whatever, the hand would be a good thing. In STAP keep some booze "," about SHTF for you or for trade could be a very good idea.
