About Scotch

Scotch, the word evokes many images: open green fields, smoky smell of peat, refined taste and everything Scottish. Scotch, is the pride of Scotland and to date is an integral part of the Scottish economy. So what makes this drink, so kind and much appreciated by all.

First, it offers visitors a little history. Scotch whiskey is, after all. In fact, took birth as scotch itself. A debate over whether the English or the Scots invented whiskey. Far from being a diplomat and the matter rest there, I'm going to take a decisive step. I think that was discovered whiskey in Scotland. There are some reasons for my belief. First, the first documented home distillation of whiskey found in Scotland in 1494. At that time Gin was the national drink of England. Now, only after the act of Union of 1707, when Britain took administrative control over Scotland, made the whiskey distilleries in Scotland are in the notice of English. And then only in the 1850s Scottish made became known as an English drink.

Malted grain is used for domestic production of whiskey in the north of Scotland. Scotch as many other spirits of his time, was infused with various herbs to add value. It was therefore prepared as a powerful drink for many a Chieftan. Countries as Scotland, which typically lack a warm climate, had to use grapes or grains to ferment spirits. It is for this reason beer has been a staple of preparation for these countries.

How is Scotch

The main ingredient in scotch is barley. Depending on whether it is a barley malt or cereals, malted or unmalted used. What makes it different from scotch whiskey almost all others in the world is natural spring water available and peat used to dry the grain. This peatiness "is the most important and vital factor that makes Scotch Whisky apart from any other part of the world.

Lets review the process of producing a typical malt scotch. First, barley grains are taken and completely soaked in water. This allows the germination and stimulates grain germination. The bud is then checked, by drying of the malt in this peat. Peat is basically decaying vegetable matter in large quantities in Scotland. Other whiskeys use coal or another fuel, but scotch is made exclusively peat only. The amount of peat used also determines the final taste of whiskey. The attribute of a smoky whiskey depends on this factor.

A Once the drying process of roasting or more, it's time to mash and drain the beans in large tanks. Natural or cultivated yeast is added to these tanks to start the fermentation process. The sufficient fermentation, the beer or beer is ready for next step in the journey.

The brew must now be distilled. The Scotch must be double distilled by law. Traditionally this distillation occurs in a copper pot still. This distillate now can be called as the Scottish spirit, but to be called Scotch is yet to mature for a minimum period of two years. Most Scotch distils much longer however.

The barrel used for aging is a vital factor to determine the color and flavor of the final product. Traditionally, the two types of barrels are most commonly used. The first type are those that have been used for maturing bourbon earlier. The excellent quality of wood of America the taste of corn Bourbon adds to the complexity of whiskey. This is usually whiskey-colored and has a corn flavor typical of him. The other barrel is used to mature sweet wines such as Spanish sherry. Even these barrels are usually made in America itself and sent to Spain for the maturation of sherry. Scotch Whisky has been matured in casks that have more complex color and sweet with a strong odor.

Scotch Regions culture

The Scot-growing areas in Scotland are divided into four regions.

1) La Sierra: The whiskey produced here are soft. This can be attributed to water that is available here. In addition, upland occur once "smoky" scotch.

2) Islands and Western Isles: The whiskey produced in the islands are famous for their pungency. This is a contribution to the character of peat whiskey.

3) Campbeltown: The scotch produced here smell fresh and ozoney.

4) The Lowlands: Finally, the whiskey produced in the lands casualties are the sweetest and mildest of all.

Scotch: Its different faces

Scotch is a sophisticated drink. And like other drinks such, it has variations and different proportion of ingredients used and therefore has a variety of Scotch whiskey.

The most prized whiskey is the Single Malt. single malts are 100% malt whiskeys made entirely in one distillery. Cubas or whiskeys Vatter are those that contain a mixture of single malts but contain no grain whiskey. In general, rounder and more complex in character.

Single grain whiskeys whiskeys that are made entirely from grain and malt not contain them. whiskeys such are typically light body and some find it whiskey much less difficult.

Blended whiskeys are the variety most commonly sold. They are a mixture of a variety of grains and malt whiskeys that have been "Married" by a master blender. Often they are ones, as the blender ensures a consistent end product every time. Therefore, it is most scotch expected of everyone.

Trademarks

Some of the known brands include Johnnie Walker whiskey, teachers Balentine, Chivas Regal and Whyte & Mackay. There are many many more, and each offer a different experience.
