The village is located about five miles northeast of the town of Sudbury, and can be found on a hill on the west bank of the River Brett. The crest consists of two valleys and ravines into three parts: the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul (pictured above) located in the southern section, Lavenham Market in the central part, and the remains of a windmill atops northernmost section. The southern valley contains a stream running between the pond in Lavenham Hall and Brett, but was covered by a culvert 500 years ago, and the aptly named Water Street built on the top.

The Angel Hotel
The Angel Hotel Market Place Lavenham was first licensed in 1420 and is believed to Lavenham's oldest Inn. The Swan at Lavenham
The Swan in Lavenham was built around 1400 and consists of three houses dating from the same period. The oldest part dates from the late the 14th century. The Bildeston Crown
Not directly in Lavenham, but in the pretty village nearby is Bildeston Bildeston Crown. This hotel is an original publication grade 2 century coaching inn fifteenth to creatively and carefully restored and renovated in 2003, without losing the character of the past 600 years.
