Decanter Japan
Saturday, August 20th, 2011

I have a vintage decanter and it says made in Pacific Japan, is that different then made in Japan?
Its a hobo decanter with little shot glasses. I have scoured the web and cant find any info. On the bottom of the shot glasses it says Japan on the bottom of the bottle is a sticker that says Made in Pacific Japan.
From the end of WWII in the Pacific to 1952, Japan was occupied by the Allied Forces, and goods exported from Japan had to be marked “Made in Occupied Japan” or “Occupied Japan.” When the occupation ended, most goods then said either “Made in Japan” or “Japan.”
Depending on the sticker, it could have a printing error or it could be hiding the authentic mark.
You might want to get in touch with a company such as Replacements Ltd. in Greensboro, NC, to see what they may know about your decanter. http://www.replacements.com/
