Recipe Beer Bread Self Rising Flour

Does beer bread have yeast in it?

I have this recipe for beer bread. It is 3 cups self rising flour, 2 Teaspoons sugar, and 1 can of beer. Then you cook it for 1 hour in 350 degrees. I looked on the ingredients for self rising flour and it didn’t have yeast in it. I know that beer bread rises but does it rise using yeast. I’m entering my bread into a fair and I need to know whether it contains yeast or not because that would determine the category that it is placed in.

Enter it as a quick bread. The yeast in the beer is long gone by the time you bake with it. The self rising flour contains baking powder (or soda, I can’t remember) THAT’S what makes the bread rise.

A yeast bread usually follows this template:
1) Bloom (wake up) the yeast.
2) mix ingredients
3) knead
4) let rise
5) shape
6) rest
7) bake

Quick breads are usually just mix together and bake.

Hope this helps.
