The capital costs are typically higher than rural areas, but sometimes the reverse. For example, the fuel can be more expensive in rural areas, but not by much. The following list is an estimated average of the prices charged in Australia, known as a guide only. Everything is based on 33 years experience …

Accommodation

Budget tip: Use the Internet to find bargains and save a lot of money. Some of my favorite places on the links page. If you are traveling on a budget then I suggest staying in hostels or caravan parks. They range in price based on the quality and location. A word of caution especially trailer parks along the coast are not what they used to be. These days are about to use services a way which can be as expensive as staying in a motel.

How about

By air: Australia has four main companies carriers to choose from: Qantas: Generally, the most expensive VirginBlue: basic service at cheaper rates JetStar: Similar to VirginBlue TigerAirways: No service basic low-cost budget. Some of these do not fly to certain parts of the country you need to do your homework.

Public transport

A great way to save money on a tight budget. QR Queensland Rail or covering mainly the south-east Queensland (Brisbane, Ipswich, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast) now offers a GoCard which is valid for the train, bus and ferry services mainly in Brisbane. It's cheaper than paying with cash. I'ma big fan of getting train through the city. It is convenient, safe and cheap. You can also buy daily, weekly or monthly passes QR. The longer the pass more money to spare. QR also offers concessions for pensioners and students. City Rail (New South Wales): covers Sydney, Wollongong, Central Coast and Newcastle): It has lots of inputs different to save money.

I CityRail all the time when I was living in Sydney. Sometimes trains are late, but mostly it is a secure service good. For families consider Sunday Funday pass where currently (2009) will pay only $ 2.50 per person only needs a minimum of one adult and one child. City Rail also other offers discount vouchers Cityhopper (for Syndey only), trigger day and Sydneypass (Sydney for 3, 5 or 7 days for travel within a period 8 days), which gets you unlimited train, bus and ferry around Sydney. Concessions are available for students and seniors.

How or from international airports

Avoid taxis. These will cost a small fortune, mostly due to traffic congestion. The price of a ticket by the National Airport to the city is $ 14.60 and from the City International Airport is $ 15.20. And sometimes the taxi drivers lost.

SUPER SUPPORT BUDGET:

Instead of studying transport services to the airport. Do a search on Google for transfers from the airport of the city that are landing in. For example, "Airport transfers from Sydney Airport. Sydney New South Wales: In general, price range for shuttle services will be refunded $ 20 in major CBD locations, but may be cheaper if you book online. Brisbane Queensland: Transportation the airport by train. These companies are privately owned and not usually offer concessions. They are a great way to save money though. Brisbane Airtrain: This is a train service that takes you from Brisbane International or Brisbane Domestic Terminal, Brisbane suburban and Gold Coast Price should not be more than $ 30 in a manner most destinations. Airtrain See the interactive map on its website to give you an idea of Sydney Airport Link: Similar to Brisbane. From 2009 a one way ticket to the terminal CBD national or international airport will be a little less than $ 20. Visit our FAQ section on their website for details.

Hire a car

East Coast Australia has all the major rental companies, Hertz, Budget, Avis and independents who may be better to travel budget. There are all types of cars and vans to choose from, the larger the car the more you pay. There are a few websites out there that allow you to compare rental prices hire. Using them will save you money! If you'll be here a little longer then consider hiring a van. There are lots of options for you. In Queensland a popular choice is bad. In NSW have deposits in Sydney and Byron Bay. Their deposits are in Queensland in Brisbane, Cairns and Hervey Bay.

Grocery Shopping

shopping in Australia is dominated by two major players "in the market namely Woolworths and Coles. If you spend over a certain amount of its sales record will get you cheaper fuel (see below) You will find Woolworths and Coles in most larger cities and are not, of course, in all capital cities. Now use "price per unit of weight" tickets for you to compare and save while browsing the shelves. Aldi Australia also has shops in most capital cities and regional towns all along the East Coast Australia. These are my favorite shopping budget especially if you are traveling and only need the basics in the road.

SUPER BUDGET TIP:

cheaper items are usually below eye level. This is the most expensive, half will be on the shelves, to look down and grab a bargain. From Australia generic brands, such as Home Brand, Black and Gold and Woolworths and Coles own varieties are as good as in the value of the biggest names name. Aldi are cheaper than Woolworths and Coles and the quality is as good. You will however have to take their own bags to pack your goods or buy bags at Aldi. There are other supermarkets in Australia, as Foodowrks and IGA and are great if you just need a few articles on his travels.

Fuel (gas)

We call a service station service station. Australia has all the major fuel companies available (BP, Caltex, Ampol, Shell etc). Some 4c offer out of fuel if you have a record of supermarkets. Woolworths Caltex and Shell accepts files Coles accepts vouchers. Recommend use of these, especially if you are making the most of your trip by car. Fuel prices go up and down during the week. Anecdotal research indicates the most cheapest days to pay the fuel is either a Tuesday or Wednesday. To save fuel is smooth, limit the use of air conditioner and not the speed, the chewing fuel (which is also dangerous!) A special word of stops at service stations: All stations want you to buy something else while you are shop, as drinks, chocolates, candies, CDs, etc. Avoid the temptation, as he pays a high price to do so. Instead plan your trip by the purchase of drinks and food in a supermarket for your trips. Some even offer the service stations out of fuel 4c, if you buy $ 2 worth of food. This means you are worse off then if not to buy food or drinks. Do not be fooled!

Phone calls

Cell phones are "mobile" phones in Australia. Avoid using mobile (cell) PHONE. International Rates YOU.Of course sting roaming mobile phones are useful for emergencies. Cheapest option with a budget to save money on transportation is the use of international calling cards. With a $ 10 card, you can talk to the U.S. for more than two hours. Note that you do a lot more calls short it costs more than a call a while. For example, six 10-minute call will cost more than one call an hour. There are lots of phone cards available. For example: Ozcall, Dawn and Gotalk. There are also plenty of online sites to compare prices, just do a Google search, as the cards Australia's international telephone. "You can buy the cards at newsstands or online, and for a range of prices. To make it easier to buy them yet in amounts up to U.S. $ 10, $ 20 or AUD50 and use them from your home phone and public phones also.

The food and drinks.

Eating many outside and consumption of alcohol can be very expensive. Depending on the beer bar or restaurant can cost $ 2.50 to $ 7.00.

SUPER AID BUDGET:

Glass size will determine the price. Beer names given to different sizes of glass of beer varies from one city another in Australia and in general from one state to another. For example asking a schooner in most Pubs Victorian or Western Australia will earn you a confused look or upset, since no use to this size. Request a 'beer' in Victoria will give you a 285ml (10 oz) 'Pot' but if you said so in a Pub Queensland you will find a small 200ml (7 oz) glass. In other words, a pot (in Queensland) is the same as a Middie (in NSW) and is usually a comfortable size to enjoy a beer. A schooner is bigger and a pint is bigger again. A pitcher of beer (literally, a mug of beer) is 1140ml or 40 oz is the largest of all. Be careful, however, is not intended to drink from the jug, pour into a pot (middie) and enjoy! Application drinks spirits (rum, whiskey, vodka, etc) in a bar normally cost you around $ 7.

SUPER BUDGET TIP:

One way to save is to buy alcohol in a bottle shop. There are large "superstores" as LiquorChoice and Dan Murphy, in all capital cities and in some cases regional cities. A six-pack of local beer (XXXX, Tooheys, Cascade etc.) will be between $ 12 to over $ 20. A carton of beer has 24 cans or stubbies (Small bottles). local beer will set back anywhere between $ 35 to $ 65.

Wine

Australia has some of the best wines in the world and I highly recommend you try some time you're here. The price range but you can usually get a "good drop" for about $ 15.

SUPER BUDGET TIP:

Look for the "clean skins", which are the bottles with no markings. Some have labels that some do not, but they are often in the tray of the negotiations, but there may be surprises tasty. A clean skin 'will cost about U.S. $ 7.

Eat out

Australia has all the major food chains McDonald's, KFC, Hungary Jacks Wine Australia has some of the best wines in the world and I recommend you try some time you're here. The price range but you can usually get a "good drop" for about $ 15. I especially like the light variety of Moscato. Will not give you a hangover and not dent the budget. Subway and many franchises pizza: If you want to stay healthy meters with a budget is a good choice. They offer special rates for certain subs on each day of the week. Some media domino pizza and offer discounts on Tuesdays.

SUPER BUDGET TIP:

For budget travelers (backpackers and families), the best option is: Buy groceries such as cheese, ham and chicken sandwiches to pack for the trip. Also consider buying popper 'packages, which are little square packages of juices that usually come in packages of 6. Australians love their pub food and I highly recommend them. They can be expensive, however, expect to pay $ 15 upwards.Smokers best left smoking, as a package will cost you about $ 15 for a pack of 20 cigarettes. Some states in Australia also have strict laws on where smoking is allowed. Queensland probably has the toughest law of all banned smoking in public places indoors and outdoors. Queensland also just introduced a new law banning smoking in cars if children under 16 years in the car too. Fine is $ 200 on the spot!

Entertainment

Cinema (Cinemas): Go on Tuesday, tickets are cheaper. DVD: Once again, buy a Tuesday. Many stores offer reduced prices on this day for any reason. Free entertainment for children: children love the beaches and there are plenty throughout Eastern Australia. Keep children entertained for free by stopping out some. Children also love parks, and parents love them because they are free. Why not stop at our large parks, often near beaches. The playground is designed to the highest safety standards so you can be sure kids can play hard and then rest hard!

Summary

There are lots of ways to ways to save a lot of money when traveling in Australia on a budget. My best advice is to plan ahead. That does not mean a regimented schedule, but only some forecasting such as picking up groceries at the supermarket in the morning you plan on setting off. My suggestion is that other super budget and add at least 20% of that. If there's one thing I learned in my travels is that despite all my good intentions and strategies I've always gone over budget. Hopefully if I have given you some tools and tips that will mean that keep more of their hard earned money in your pocket and leave for Australia East Coast with a lot of good memories!
