I made a batch of cream ale malt extract 4 pounds and 2 pounds of specialty grains. My hydrometer stop working on me (but keep a sample for a while (to get to my new). I had good action with the airlock for a day and then leave smoking. How long should I keep the fermentation? My new hydropower will be on Thursday and started Saturday. What is the normal fermentation a beer (ale), bottle like this before?
Ideally, the primary ferment is 3-5 days in length. More than a day or two or fewer is nothing to worry about. Rack to address and age or the bottle this weekend, as are its conditions.
