Liquor Inventory

liquor inventory
Questions about off-sale, privately owned liquor store …?

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge on the dealers liquor / wholesalers who sell their products at a liquor store outside the inn, but the store can not sell the products and end up sitting in inventory for months or years …. Are liquor distributors / seller take back products? Or how about "bad" … the meaning of wine products to be sitting on the shelves of shops and have been repeated questions corkrot or deterioration. If the dist / saleperson take these products back? I'm doing consulting work accounting for a mom and pop shop selling liquor outside has some major problems with inventory. When the store opened a liquor distributor charged the store with only their products and now the owners are sitting in this inventory because a vendor can not get the consumer to buy it …. but without making this inventory are not able to buy too many new product lines that can do better in their market. Any info / advice would be appreciated. Thanks

So it really depends on state. You can contact your state board of alcoholic beverages official standards. Most states do not alow of liquor to be returned for any reason. This would be considered a consignment sale. You buy is yours. The other problem is since they are probably low volumn wholesalers are not in a mood for a breather. Look for some smaller distributors, who would be willing to offer a discount to get their products began to shop. As for the wine existing needs either to discount or even a donation to local organizations such as schools. They have auctions, and are always looking for articles. What status?
