Ice Box Furniture
I need help figuring out a reoccurring dream…?
In this dream I’m in a house that is kind of like a duplex. The left side (that I always enter into) is bright, clean and comfortable; lots of whites, yellows, and cheerful colors. The furniture and appliances are all very new and modern.
I always end up going to the end of a hallway and entering the other side of this house, which is like a mirror image of the first side, except it’s dark and dusty. The furniture is huge, heavy, and antique and the appliances are always VERY outdated (like the old style ‘ice-box’ and pot-bellied stove).
When I get to the dark side of the house, I want to stay there and not go back over to the bright, clean side.
Ah ha! Houses are symbols of the self. You have two very distinct sides to you: the new, clean and cheery one, and the dark, gloomy depressed one. You are currently choosing to stay in the more negative side of yourself: that is what feels comfortable to you. You are also hanging on to negative things from the past: this is why everything in the gloomy side is antique or not updated.
