Should I rent my apartment out to a Superbowl guest?
Ok. I live about 8 to 10 min. away from the Stadium (Universaty of Pheonix) and I saw a report on my local news abot a home owner renting out his house to somebody who is coming to see the Superbowl. And so I thought, that would be a great idea for me to do. But my wife doesn’t agree. She says that it is a little exagerated. She can’t emagine renting out the appartment to total strangers with our furniture in it. I tell her that this is a great opportunity for us to make some money, and that people would be willing to pay a good price for a Superbowl weekend. (right?) All I need is to convince her of the idea, and maybe I can get her to agree. But what do you guys think? We curently rent or live in the app. its a two bed two bath, living room with bar, and a balcony. And my plan is to renting it out except for the master bedroom. Was thinking of putting our personal belongings in it and locking it up. What are things I need to concider?
Check you lease to make sure that you can legally sublet your apartment even for a weekend. There is a chance that you can’t do this legally.
Find out if there are letting agencies that would cover the advertising, etc., for a portion of the fee.
I can’t imagine that everyone who rents during the Superbowl week will be vomiting and screwing all weekend, so I think this might be a decent way to get a month’s rent paid by someone else. Make sure there is a strict contractual agreement…
