what do employers like to see when hiring a bartender?
I have no prior experience except for serving cold cans of beer to golfers at a turn house. I need another characteristic that will make me impossible to refuse while getting hired.
Your presentation is most important. You must be clean, hair & nails short and spotless. Beware BO. You should dress to suit the position – not over the top – again spottlessly clean and well ironed.
Your personality & communications skills will also be considerd. In this job they are very impotant because you will be dealing with the customers all the time
As well you will need a reference to prove you are honest & reliable because you will be handling money & having to give change.
It would also help if you are aware of occupational health & safety issues as well as anti discrimination laws.
If you are really keen why don’t you look for a college course in hospitality near you. This would not only give you the knowledge and some pracitce but often these courses help you find a job at the end.
