How healthy is whiskey?

I recently started drinking whiskey on the rocks and I really enjoyed it. Is it healthier to drink beer (Eg, pbr)? Such as compared to carbohydrates, calories, etc? Does whiskey have health benefits as wine is for your heart?

Scotch is essentially the distillation of alcohol from beer, although hops is never added to the mixture of barley to make whiskey. This is then put in oak barrels and allowed to take in the aroma and color of the wood. Thus, scotch is alcohol, water and wood tannins / flavor. No carbohydrates, calorie content of whiskey is completely in the alcohol, so for something that is 80 proof, which is about 64Cal/oz. The alcohol itself is known to help keep the cardiovascular system in moderation, but, unlike wine, whiskey and alcohol is all that is receiving. No nutrition obtained of plants used in the process, for example, the resveratrol in wine, and was left behind in distillation. In short, it's whiskey-flavored wood alcohol obtained from a mash of barley. Other types of whiskey, for instance, bourbon (corn), rye (rye) and hard alcohol, brandy (grape / wine) are very similar, but differ in the source of alcohol.
