What is the difference between the taste of a gin martini and a vodka martini?

I've never had either, but I was never a big fan of vodka. (Too soft and hard for me). How martinis taste in general, and there is a substantial difference between gin and vodka martini? I'm not a big fan of sweet drinks girly good but we do not want a cocktail that tastes like burning alcohol straight-up. If I order my martini "dirty", the olive juice will soften the edge, or just make drink taste like sea water?

I am a firm believer that the quality of the alcohol will not make a big difference in taste. I can often drink martinis (well, very often) and how much gin and vodka. I chose BOMBAY SAPPHIRE gin and Grey Goose vodka. Grey Goose will not have the harsh taste I've had with other vodkas. Gin is much more flavorful, potent, and you dehydrate much more than vodka. Dirty martini olive juice flavor is used, not salty. You can remove some of the harshness of cheap alcohol. Try olives stuffed with almonds, blue cheese, jalapenos or garlic. Sometimes we use pepperoccini peppers "contaminating" our martinis. One of the best martinis I had is that of Vesper, James Bond Casino Royal: 2 parts gin (using Gordon, I use Bombay), 1 part vodka (I use Grey Goose) and 1 / 2 part Lillette. Lillette is a French aperitif, and can be difficult to find – but you can get this done at any bar these days. We also Caesar or Bloody Mary martinis – which in the shaker and pour into chilled glasses. if you're not a fan of sweet – try a drop of lemon sliced lemons confusion with the sugar in a shaker, add vodka, shake, strain and serve – can take a few trys to adjust the sugar, which can be part of the fun! My last brew is out of step 1 / lemon with fresh mint in a cocktail shaker two, add the vodka, shake and strain into a glass and top with soda lychee. Use quality ingredients, ingredients you'll enjoy using and playing!
