October Festival history?
Historically and traditionally speaking how did this celebration? Just in case one day I would like visit Germany and for how long the duration of it? I understand that a lot of beer consumed during this event. Please educate.
The Oktoberfest is a sixteen-day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany in late September (and running to early October). It is one of the biggest events famous city and the world's largest fair, with some six million people attending every year, and is an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities around the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the events in Munich. The original "Oktoberfest" occurred in Munich, October 12 1810: For the commemoration of their marriage, Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen organized a great horse race (the marriage took place on 12 October, the horse race on October 17). In 2008, the price range between € 8.00 and € 8.30 for alcohol.
