5 Tips to boost your spirits

If you feel as if everything is above you, or you are having difficulties coping or function or you're feeling down in the dumps, then try these 5 easy tips to relieve tension and stress and improve your mood:

1. Take a relaxing bath. Add music, candles and a glass of your favorite beverage: beer, tea, hot chocolate, wine or even champagne. Close the door and forget everything else for an hour or less. This helps increase levels of peace and tranquility which we feel, the less likely they are stressed or depressed.

2. Comedy night: get in your favorite nibbles: chips, tortillas, salsa, crackers, cheese, pizza, chocolate, cookies, ice cream, etc open a bottle of wine or pour yourself a beer or two and spend an entire afternoon watching your favorite movies or comic funny. Laughter lifts our spirit and is a great antidote for stress and life testing modern.

3. Outside of the Line of Fire: Take a little peace and quiet for a day or better still a weekend or a week. Take a magazine, relax and recover their thoughts. When under pressure or struggling to cope with a situation of greater or event in life, and the solutions to our problems can be really difficult. Distance of the problems can bring clarity and relieve tension. I love going to the coast when I feel this way and always, without fail, helps me calm down and find solutions. I do not know why, but is there something really relaxing to be near the ocean. Being near water, come to think of it.

4. Increase the peace and feel good about indulging in massages. Share a massage with your partner – to create a relaxed, soothing lights and oils and hand towels. Lavender oil is very relaxing. Or, enjoy a massage from a professional masseur or masseuse. For a really invigorating massage, a visit of Turkish baths, if you are lucky enough to have one nearby. Massage is very relaxing and increases intimacy between lovers. It is a huge stress buster as well, but beware, it is addictive! Not a bad thing to be addicted to it, and you will make a plenty of good.

5. Spend a week without seeing any television. Television can fill your mind with negativity, bombard you with handling image through advertising and give you a distorted view of reality by showing that everything that is bad for the world. Famines, catastrophes, killings, violence, war – the list is endless – and news programs and soap operas are full of such events. So give your mind a rest this assault on the senses. Abandon the television for a week and do something more rewarding instead: Read a book, listening to music, socialize, workout, go out walk or try your luck at something new. If you need to know the news, listen to a news bulletin on the radio once a day. But trying to avoid for a week, replace with something more life enhancing and see how you feel.

The above ideas are very simple to implement but also very effective in helping relieve stress and tension. Give it a try and watch your mood levels rise!
