CafĂ© – a new meaning to the phrase
When a friend mentioned to me that there was a new coffee maker I naturally assumed it would be a brilliant pot drive new coffee and tea sitting in the kitchen countertop. But that was not the case at all. My friend had introduced a new "barista", the new recipes espresso coffee were making a stir with the local office crowd.
My knowledge of this profession was conspicuous by his absence, but I felt very impressed with the skill, knowledge of beans and roasts, and the skillful handling of a variety of coffee drinks recipes complex and subtle. In fact, all the art of making coffee requires a range of skills, advanced knowledge of products and months of practice and that was something that was very impressive.
The word real "barista" is actually Italian waiter, but in the English language has come to mean someone who prepares espresso based drinks coffee, even in America North in general, the term has been used for any worker in a situation of coffee. I like the comparison with the wine expert's word is "Sommelier" as a Barista "must also be highly trained in all aspects of coffee, roasting, blending and the use of espresso equipment. God knows how many different types of coffee in the world, or even more important, the number of mixtures of different!
A coffee machine can be a finely educated athlete "when is mixing exotic drinks espresso and there are competitive events around the world where a barista can show their skills, but it takes talent, training and much practice to be considered for these performances. The Olympic coffee makers in the world.
Monte Carlo was the site of the first World Barista Championship, and that was in 2000 and quickly became popular. Almost ten years later, the World Championships was held in a different country each year and host the winners of national titles. The judges evaluate the drink made and the person who made it. The result includes not only the taste, but exposure and speed, preparation is against the clock with only fifteen minutes are allowed for each performance Baristas.
Each participant must use the espresso machine ever, but many have a whole mess of exotic ingredients. Syrups, Rain, fruits, ground spices, and even their own roasted coffee mixed. In fact, you should prepare four signature drinks, four cappuccinos and espressos four different while four judges of the sample, taste and smell: all foam with art and graphics, to complete presentation. Fifteen minutes can mean a lot!
The winners have made coffee drinks with cane sugar, pepper-gel, lavender, pepper white sage leaves infused, honey and chocolate squares black. 2004 World Champion of Canada named Sammy Piccolo, use raw sugar, egg yolks, curry, bittersweet and milk chocolate roasted with its special blend of coffee and called his creation win "Insieme".
These competitions require dedication and hard training, like any athlete working toward a world championship and this puts a new perspective on the phrase 'coffee' and when you are thinking about your next cup of espresso, think about some new recipes and some new flavors and maybe you could be our next representative.
