Cooler Beer Tap
Can I fill a growler with bottled beer? Will it keep?
I am planning to give a friend this very cool growler that I bought on a trip for his birthday but I there is no one locally that will fill the growler from the tap. I have considered going to the store and buying a case of his favorite beer and filling the growler from the bottles. Is this logical? Will the beer keep as well (it is a sealed growler)? Is there an obvious reason why I shouldn’t do this?
it will keep for a while, but not as long as if it was vacuum sealed. Also, it may not get moldy/skunky, but it will go flat. A lot of local breweries will fill growlers for you from their taps, and some will even vacuum seal it, which may be a better option for you.
