The 2012 National Ice Carving Championship Event Schedule
The site for the 2012 National Ice Carving Competition was recently announced and it is none other than the Titanic Museum in Branson, Missouri. Champs of this contest will head to the Russian city of Sochi, the location where the 2014 Winter Olympic Games is going to be hosted. All those involved in ice carving will find this an ideal chance to reveal their talents. About the Competition
Based upon this PRnewswire report, the National Ice Carving Competition Championship is one of the toughest events worldwide. Three premier champions are crowned at the end of this competition and then given the titles of Professional Division Champion (U.S.), Speed Carving Champion, and U.S. National Champion. The events will be held over two days in February of 2012 and the most skillful ice carvers in the United States are likely to make an appearance here to compete in the competition. The affair has been held since 1991 and starting from the year of its inception it has been a matter of great prestige for ice carving lovers to win this national championship. The attractive prize money of $25,000 will attract quite a crowd to Branson come February.
Event Schedule
The 2 day event is going to have competitors operating in 2 divisions- the Master Division and also the Professional Division. Those who are in the Master Division will work on 3 blocks of ice on the 1st day of the competition and one block on the next day. For the ice carvers in the Professional Division, one ice carving on the first day will be followed by two the next day. The entrants can pick a lot of tools to construct their works of art including chisels, chainsaws, hot irons, blowtorches, knives as well as drills. Each block of ice is going to be measured and weighed prior to the participants start working their wonders on them to guarantee that they each get similar basic materials to start with. NICA judges will be assessing the work of the various individuals over a pre determined set of guidelines. These parameters include make use of ice, focus on detail, technical skill and creativity.
