Buy Barware

Where did “married monograms” come from?
I went to purchase a wedding gift and on the registry were bar glasses with the monogram as follows: groom’s first initial to the left, groom’s last initial in the center, bride’s first initial to the right. I’ve been buying wedding gifts for 20 years. Where did this come from? What happened to groom’s monogram on barware & bride’s on linens? Does ANYONE listen to Miss Manners any more? And to be completely practical, how useful are these glasses going to be when the divorce rate is at least 50%?
I have to agree with Tom & his astute, yet hilarious response.

It came from where Tom said. ![]()
As far as tradition goes as to groom on barware & bride on linens, the generation using the his&hers monogram is too ignorant & poorly bred (although they call it modern) to mind that rule.
Very few people listen to Miss Manners any more, but they hover together in small groups as they are the only tolerable people left on the planet.
And, yes, the glasses will serve as most excellent missles during the divorce proceedings.
