What material tanks, pipes is best for brewing beer at home? What is better for the tank fermentation, the aging tank, etc? Of these what is best: plastic, wood (wood type) or metal (what type of metal)?
You can get an inexpensive set up food-grade plastic. The glass is also good. The wood imparted flavors in beer, unwanted and usually is easily contaminated with wild yeast will taint the results. The metals can impart flavors due to the acids in the grass, but very tough. Stainless steel is inert enough to use. Aluminum is subject to the bite and can be difficult to disinfect.
