Is there anyone out there in Newfoundland, Canada?

If so, recommendations on what to do and see and where to stay during holidays 8/5-8/20/2006? I can do some camping, kayacking, see the countryside and historical sites. I also like to see the cities and meet people too. I enjoy a good beer or whiskey and folk and rock music. I want to have a car. This is what I found on festivals at that time (those with asterisks sound particularly interesting): * 8/4-6, N / L Folk / Busker Festival, San Juan, Avalon 8/6-7, Paddle Festival ramea, ramea (S. Western Island) 8/8-10, Sunsplash, Paradise , Conception Bay, Avalon * 8/11-13, Brimstone Head Folk Festival, 8/10-13 Fogo Island, Hants Harbour Crab Festival, 8/11-13 Avalon campsites, Norman Long's " Cove Cove Beach Festival, Long Cove, 8/10-13, Brigus Blueberry Festival, 8/12-14 Avalon, Fish Port Union and Berry Festival, Trinity Bay N * 8 / 15, Festival Seafood, Miquelon, south through

Yes, I'm a Newfoundland! Glad to hear you will make a trip to The Rock! It seems that you already have some great ideas. Definitely I remember must go sea kayaking. There's nothing like kayaking in the North Atlantic, especially if you're lucky enough to have a whale or two in the area with you! Since you beer and enjoy the music I recommend a visit to the George Street Pub O'Reily in St. John's. They have live music every weekend and I think it's Thursday at night when we invite everyone to drop his instrument of choice and I get to play with anyone who stops in. In general, it becomes a great night of traditional music Newfoundland. You will not have trouble getting to know people. Newfoundland is famous for the chat and I do not mean to brag, but incredibly easy! So no worries there my son! A great evening (or morning) would be to leave the Scademia (A two-masted schooner) that takes tourists out to sea with music Newfoundland tradtional playing and sometimes even take you to see an iceberg (if around) that has been known that a chunk of chips and get served beverages with ice straight from the iceberg! Of course it also takes you to see the whales and the cliffs. And while in San Juan, there are breathtaking views of the ocean from hiking up in Signal Hill. If you have the time, I suggest going up to Gros Morne National Park absoutely breathtaking scenery, great hikes, camping, sea kayaking and more. Here there is a website for that area if you are interested: Your http://www.grosmorneadventures.com/ idea to take one of the festivals is a great idea too! Hopefully that can be run in the band Great Big Sea in one of them. Enjoy!
