Beer Sours

How common is the whiskey sour?
Hello, Usually I drink beer, but this year I'm going to try more drinks just to see what I like. I like to try a whiskey sour .. but my question is if I went into a bar .. What are the chances I will get a blank stare when I ask a whiskey sour? is a very popular drink? I hate blank stares. Thanks guys. .. The second issue is that Manhattan is still popular? I wanted to try one of these since I saw the Simpsons episode with the Mafia there.
It is very popular, and have no problems in any bar. That said, probably will not get a good whiskey sour, for reasons explained. In the old days, a whiskey sour is made to order, using simple syrup, lemon juice and egg white. Salmonella fears killed egg whites, and the speed and cost killed the lemon juice, and fill the void that most bars use pre-made sour mix, which is mainly syrup high fructose corn and citric acid. The results are not good, but if you've never had a real one would not know to compare. That's why I usually go with bourbon and Coca-Cola instead of an acid, but either way will not receive blank stares. And another thing, order a whiskey sour instead of a whiskey sour. I will not go into too much details, but bourbon is a unique variety of whiskey. If not specified, you can get, you may not bourbon. (And to be honest, even if you specify bourbon, could not end it) Bars use of "track" or "good" common cocktail drinks. These are not usually very good products, just the media. Aristocrat, the like Burnett. blended whiskey is really, really cheap to make – far cheaper than bourbon, because it contains neutral spirit … Dang, I am increasingly more detailed than I wanted …. all I'm trying to say is that there are fairly strict regulations on bourbon, and even the cheap ones are pretty good as well worth asking about. I am also seeing some answers about Amaretto sour. Completely different beverages, and honestly, very girly (if you care about such of thing). Amaretto is almond liqueur – a sweet, syrupy, low-alcohol mixture. It would be a worthy after dinner drinks, but that's it.
