My Top 7 Secrets of Ibiza
Ibiza Island is known as the best party in Mediterreanean sea, but not necessary to be a clubber in a latex outfit to enjoy a holiday island in the Balearic Islands. After living in Ibiza for several months and writing a travel guide on the island, I gained much knowledge. Here is a small list of known facts on the sunny island
1. Cheap
If you look beyond the extreme prices of drinks at discos fashion, Ibiza is actually quite cheap. The establishments are struggling to keep up with new ads in Majorca on holiday and hotels built's style 80 and 90 are reducing their prices to get people to buy holiday in their hotels. Low housing prices is also expected for 2010.
2. British dominate
If you go to the town of San Antonio and visit the resort's West End district you will not feel as if you were in Spain at all! There are so many joints kebab, Chinese restaurants, fish and chips places, strip clubs, discos and pubs that seems to match any English medium-sized city in a Saturday night.
3. Ibiza gay city
Ibiza town is home to a large gay community in the summer months. Visit the city of Sa Penya area along the port and experience gay side of Ibiza. Expect narrow streets full of bars, nightclubs and some restaurants.
4. Very quiet out of peak season
The high season in Ibiza is in June, July, August and September. The rest of the year the island is pretty quiet and get to have all the beaches and restaurants to yourself. A visit to Ibiza in May, June or October guarantees a very pleasant climate and sunny days – without the crowds.
5. Watch the sunset at Cafe del Mar or somewhere else
It is an open secret, but a visit to Ibiza is not complete without enjoying the view of the sunset with a cocktail in hand. The most popular place to watch the sunset is at the famous Café Mar in San Antonio. But there are several other beachside cafes where you can get the same view, pay less for drinks, and have less people around you.
6. Use your beach towel
Is your budget tight? In these times it may be worthwhile to stretch a little more euros. My top tip for saving money is sunbed area: Do not hire sunbeds on the beach every day, € 5 a day for hammocks accumulate up to 70 € for booking on the 14th. Use your towel beach or enjoying life in the hotel pool.
7. Great gourmet food at the supermarket
If you go to the beach you can pick up a nice bit of ham, cheese, bread and a few beers at one of many supermarkets. Eat them on the beach instead of paying for lunch or dinner in fancy restaurants.
That's some secrets revealed Ibiza for you. Ibiza is an ideal destination between April and October. Personally I prefer to see in May or early June. Prices are low and the weather is great.
