Beer Run Song

What is this song?!?
I really do not know the lyrics, but the song is about a man running into an old friend, and will fall and make a six-pack and stars talking and drinking beer. This song is an old song, maybe 70's please help! That would be great!
It is NOT a country song. It was the pop "in the same Auld Lang Syne" by Dan Fogelberg. I met my old lover in the store The snow was falling Christmas Eve I stole behind her in the frozen foods and I touched on the sleeve She did not recognize the face, but then his eyes opened wide She went to hug and spilled her purse and laughed until they cried. We took her groceries to checkout stand The food was totaled and bags We stood there lost in our shame As the conversation dragged. We went to us a drink or two but could not find an open bar We bought a six-pack at the liquor store and drank it in your car. We drank a toast to innocence We drank a toast to now And tried to go beyond the emptiness, but no one knew how. She said she married her shed an architect who kept warm and dry and safe would liked to say he loved the man, but she didn't like to lie. I said the year had been a friend of hers and his eyes were as blue But in those eyes I was not sure if I saw Doubt or gratitude. She said she saw me in the record shops and I must be doing well I said the audience was heavenly but the traveling was hell. We drank a toast to innocence We drank a toast to now And tried to go beyond the emptiness, but it was not known how. We drank a toast to innocence We drank a toast to time Reliving in our eloquence Another old times … The beer was empty and our tongues were tired and falling things to say She gave a kiss to me as I came out and saw his car. Just for a moment I was back in school and felt that old familiar pain And as I I again make my way back home The snow turned into rain
