The Exterminator is a 1980 action film directed by James Glickenhaus and starring Robert Ginty as Vietnam veteran John Eastman vigilantes, aka 'The Terminator' that brings the street punks and people involved in organized crime when the law does not do justice.
Plot
The film begins in Vietnam, establishing the friendship between John Eastland (Robert Ginty) and Michael Jefferson (Steve James). The film then shifts to New York, where Jefferson Eastland and work in a food store. One day a group of thugs called the Ghetto Ghouls attacked while working Eastland Eastland after catches them trying to steal beer and Jefferson came to his aid. They defeated the thugs, but the band would return to Jefferson stop, leaving him paralyzed. Eastland, taking the law into their own hands, killing the Ghetto Ghouls except one see later in the hospital after interrogating one of its members with a flamethrower while he was bound. His vigilante justice does not end there. The warehouse work less has been intimidated into paying protection money to organized crime. Ruthless, even though Congress has stated will hold hearings to investigate the price of meat New York, the crowd has cut money from the paychecks of workers, such as Jefferson. Eastland able to kidnap one of the mobsters, stealing money from the mobster's house (although narrowly survives an attack by a guard dog) to feed the mob to a meat grinder. Eastland gives money to Jefferson.
A police officer named Dalton begins investigating these attacks, as announced to the press Eastland his nom de guerre as the Terminator. Kill the leader of a gang of child prostitution and a New Jersey state senator, who provides children for abuse. Ironically, Eastland steals a bike and a helmet of another man, only to pursue a Ghetto Ghoul assailants that attacked only an old woman and robbed.
Meanwhile, the CIA has heard of the Terminator and comes to strange conclusions. Based on the promise of the current administration to reduce crime rates, they believe that the Terminator is either an opposition party trick or a power ploy foreign to humiliate the current administration by exposing its inability to handle the problem of crime. Dalton monitor Exterminator research. Dalton, working from a bootprint found at the home of the Mafia, discovers the Terminator uses a hunting boots manufactured by a mail order company only in Maine. Asking them to get a list of customers in New York, following a hunch that the killer may be a veteran (as when he killed the Ghetto Ghouls was seen with an M-16), Dalton suspects has reduced accordingly.
In douement, Eastland Jefferson hospital visits. Jefferson has asked to see him. Never to walk again, Jefferson wants Eastland kill him. Eastland does, but coincidentally, Dalton was visiting the hospital at the time. When he learns of the death of Jefferson, Dalton concluded (apparently having investigated Jefferson earlier as a possible suspect in the Terminator, after learning about the attack on him) that one of the friends of Jefferson was the Terminator, and learns that Eastland was one of them.
Dalton is at stake Eastland's apartment. Eastland, and the police arrived home from a distance, called to his apartment and arranged for a private meeting with Dalton, where he hopes to explain their reasons for their actions. However, the CIA, tapping your phone, hear your call Dalton, and they are ambushed rendez vous. Eastland escapes alive, but in most foreign territories, according to the liner notes from Anchor Bay Entertainment video and DVD reissue of the film in the director's cut, the end was where Eastland died instead of escaping alive. Although the cartel has the Terminator using a flamethrower, which does not appear in the film, but appears in the sequel Exterminator 2.
