British expatriates in the U.S. and those just visiting – what's your favorite store / comparisons buying experience?

I will U.S. (NV and CA), every year and spend a lot of time shopping for supplies for a huge festival. I guess the main concept of U.S. I like is that it is much, much easier for Joe Public to get hold of the items classified as industrial in the United Kingdom or the regular items, but large quantities. For me this includes dry ice, beer barrels, candy floss (cotton candy) machine, industrial and construction equipment rolls of fabric. I was in heaven the first time I walked into a Home Depot (B & Q on steroids) and could not believe the drive-through lumber yard. I also love the huge size of the charity shops (Secondhand Shops) with many of them small in size warehouse. I wish there was a store franchises in the UK is Cold Stone Creamery: http://www.coldstonecreamery.com/index.html

As an American expatriate living in London I would love someone to open target here!
