How I can get a part time job in New York barteding?
Currently I am a man 18 years old college student. Am looking to begin serving drinks on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights to earn some extra money. At 18 years, not allowed to bartend in New York. (You must be 21 these days) but can probably be what is called a back bar – these are the guys who haul the ice and replenish the bar waiters. You're gonna bust your ass, but you must make some decent money. (You probably would better pay from the waiters, and many throw their barbacks a percentage of tips.) PLUS if you make peace with the waiter, during slow times, show them how to pour drinks …. Start a neighborhood pub kind of place. BUT, because New York is REALLY prosecute establishments that serve alcoholic beverages, which * could * Have a hard time.
