Bartending Private Parties

bartending private parties
I'm 20 years old certified bartender in New York, it is legal for me to buy liquor?

The legal age to become a waiter 18 years New York. However i work in a catering hall, and therefore offer liquor. Is it possible for me to go to a liquor store and buy liquor, say it is for a party I'll be bartending private. The point I am trying to reach is that if I can not buy alcohol I can not do my job.

NO You still need to be over 21 EDIT: Why can not you do your job? You are there to serve, not to manage stock levels. EDIT: Running Bike is correct, U.S. law are stupid. In the UK the age using the same ballot, to be sent to the front line forces etc and drink. If are considered old enough for one must be old enough for the rest. I've been to New York a couple of times and it is foolish to see that I can not buy the bartender a drink because they are not old enough to drink, can not be served here (although you can expect from table) until the legal drinking age.
