To the north Pacific Coast – Vision of the Seas Review

So call me Negative Nelly or whatever you call someone who sees the negative in things, but I can not ignore the negative aspects, and to be fair, I should not. So let me say in advance that this review will have some negative points in it, but we also say we did enjoy our cruise and would do it again.

Our first cruises were on Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas and Carnival Paradise. Both cruise ships made out of Los Angeles (Long Beach) to Catalina and Ensenada. Both ships are smaller than their respective lines and are the basis of any comparison that I made when looking at this cruise. Of course it could be like comparing a Volkswagen SUV, although in the case of the monarch butterfly a Bug with class and for a Bug Party Paradise!
When booking this cruise our expectations were a little lower if you are booking a regular schedule for a boat because it was a repositioning cruise. It turns out that we should have our expectations had plummeted, the cruise was fully manned and entertainment was scheduled for a cruise of 7 nights while we were on a cruise of 5 nights, that gave us more options for entertainment that does not need entertainment from that found how to entertain, boy "Do Not Disturb" sign came in handy.

We arrived at noon to check (we wanted to reach the first room, we had not seen in a week), appeared to be a good time and they were able to walk to the check-in and were quickly in charge of one of the agents. A few minutes of paperwork to verify, see the passports, the collection of blood (not really) and slide a credit card (They wanted to keep it but I do not left) and went on board the ship. We have learned something new on this cruise we suspected before. Arriving early for check-in works to our favor and gets us on board quickly. Score!

We boarded the boat and headed for the Windjammer restaurant for lunch buffet. This was the first of several disappointments for the cruise. The food for lunch boarding was dry and soft, something like cook food for children at home when it's your turn to cook, compared with Monarch We were very disappointed and hoped that was not the norm in this Windjammer. Unfortunately this has proven to be the standard for the Windjammer on this cruise, but a glass of lemonade things improved some and gave it a tangy taste. Every time I ate at the Windjammer find the food to be relatively mild and dry, I looked around the restaurant and went to the kitchen but I did not see my children working, there were a few dishes that broke the pattern but not many.

When cabins were available who visited our cabin and at the same time we had an inside cabin layout of the room felt bigger then our previous visits to the monarch (say that makes shaving things look bigger). Our cabin was created with the beds together in the configuration of the queen, which pleases us since we do not have to request it. Also our Crown and Anchor books and terry robes that were part of our voucher were in the waiting room for us. One disappointment here was we did not see our cabin attendant to day 3 of the cruise, which could have been due to Do "Do Not Disturb", but we were careful not to have that for most of the time that is supposed to go to the rooms. While he was taking care of our cabin did not really seem interested in addressing all the personal care may have had. Fortunately we did not have any. The only time we saw our attendant was when we gave the customer satisfaction survey and noted their section. I will give him credit, he took care of the room, but it was not a personal touch and felt as if his hand.

We loved the ship design and how easy it was to go from one area to another. We were in the Centrum very little and enjoy the music that was played frequently in that area. Also enjoyed playing tag and hide and seek in the ship. The problem was we hid together without anyone asks us, so we got a little worried at times. It was in one of these trips we met a lovely young woman named Sandie who was enjoying his solo voyage. What a sweetheart, she was charming and always following were a few wolves around. He always had a drink in their hands due to the diligence of the wait staff. The proof that one person can enjoy a Cruising without a wingman. I just like to see your bill at the end.

The drill was to collect compulsory fairly quickly and was a leading magazine a great attitude and did what he could do the muster drill set nicer then it could have been. It may have been a bit much for him to be doing the shuffle and turn and dive but it was interesting to see him enjoy himself. Also made a reasonable imitation of the cruise director and captain. I think I saw floating in the ship's side at one point, but it could have been a trick of the eyes.

Dinner in the Aquarius Dining Room was great, do not let us down once the quality of the food or the service we receive there. Dinner at the Aquarium every night, breakfast each morning and lunch but twice. Our waiter and bartender assistant were very attentive, after the first night (Well, the second night, Sandie was a bad influence on Karla, got her drunk and could not find their way the dining room trying to guide me. He kept insisting he was out the door at the stern of the ship, which led us to the boat's wake. Karla does not drink much and in which a night drinking more than she had in months, Sandie still drank under the table and I suspect that there might be Sandie took a squad of Marines under the table.) waiters called us by name as we were coming, had our favorite drinks waiting for us and made us feel at home (Unlike our children make us feel like that should not be at home.) When the Aquarium disappointed Windjammer recovered.

The shows in the main theater was nice, however, Once again we are disappointed by the shortsightedness of some of the staff. There was a large group on the cruise it was necessary to use the main hall and the staff changed show time for the second show of the second night without telling the guests. From what I understand when the curtain raised there were about 25 people in the audience because most of the audience appeared 15-30 minutes after the show started because they expected the show began at 10:45 and 10:15. This part of the series had must have been amazing with man-eating tigers (actually ate a man) and an act where all the dancers together in a writhing heap, which would been a show. * Wink *

On the last night of cruising the main entertainment was a pair of juggling comedian, as far as comedy goes minstrels were good. But the highlight of the show did not own minstrels, but the "victim" of one of its acts. Jugglers wanted a child to join them on stage and seated him on stage, they were going to juggle bowling balls on it. As part of the comedy act of the juggler dropped a bowling balls. The boy sat up, looked at the jugglers, got up and quickly walked off stage back to his parents. Apparently I did not expect this response, since then proceeded to try to convince the child to join them on stage. This cruise did not have a lot of kids in it and this guy was only child in the audience, and proceeded to bribe him to return to the stage. Finally it was purchased with a bribe of $ 10. He returned with them on stage and had lay down again and the second tells juggler who slept with him. When he was laid on the other side of the boy on the other juggler. As soon as to resolve the child came and sat down again, began to ask him not to leave, but the boy apparently was not leaving without his money, he got up and put back on the other side of the juggler shown tucking the side of the bowling ball juggler. This caught off guard jugglers again because they both laughed and the act could not continue for a good 30 seconds while it gained control of themselves. Then perform the bit of juggling. When they gave the boy his money is short a dollar, and the boy had told him, loudly, then turned to the jugglers and demanded the rest of his money. We know (or at least highly suspected) this was not done because the boy in question ate dinner at the table next to us every night at dinner and so asked about it and everyone was excited about what had happened and asked his brother to go to the last show and recreate the performance.

I took advantage of snacks in the restaurant Solarium a couple of times and was very disappointed by the food quality and staff attitude, I think my sons were hiding in the back room and train again the staff here. When asked about some of the Solarium staff made me feel as if my request was an imposition or annoyance, he preferred to continue chatting with his crew mates instead of serving to guests, like my children.

The waiters and bartender in the Schooner Lounge was attentive to us as individuals and have been impressed with how much he seemed to care about our trip. The best waiters on the ship are Rommel, Dordi, Diego, Orlando, Nestor, Tish, and Karl. They did work very well to help my girlfriend Sandie corrupt, 23. The bartenders, waiters, waitresses and live on tips and this group gained each additional council has some other departments on the ship could take lessons from there folk.

The staff of the Casino game does not seem to know what they were doing, seemed as if I constantly had to remind them that did not pay a bet, do not remove a lost bet, paid my winnings with another player, or simply do not seem to understand their own games. My biggest disappointment came in the Casino of the table of Texas Hold-em, which was opened only once during the cruise, it was a dealer who does not seem to understand the game, and had an inclination of 10% to outrageous $ 10 per hand, most poker rooms, poker table including the Carnival Paradise, rake only $ 3 – $ 4 per side and lower than rake when not having a complete game this casino seemed to figure that one could take the players for everything they could.

Internet access, both wireless terminals and vessels was sporadic at best. He often had 5 bars when I was wireless and could not even connect ship the server to log the use of terminal buildings was rarely able to pass user screen and signed out several times when I tried access Gmail or other forums. This could be seen as positive, since a limited my time online and have not had to go anywhere girlies. * Wink *

Our stop in San Francisco, CA was great. We crossed under the Golden Gate Bridge around 6:15 in the morning and the lighting was great. We've been on that bridge before and seemed small, but the crossing under that magnificent and a view that many people do not get. We docked at Pier 35, which is one of the largest cruise ship terminals on the coast west. Unfortunately, this terminal is more than one store and then a processing facility but rather served as a gateway to the city for us. We take no trip but to disembark and walk along the waterfront to Fisherman's Wharf and then to the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory (A-level should make in San Francisco). Then paid for a Metro Day Pass and took the cable car to Chinatown, which proved to be an interesting ride. Then took the cable car back to Fisherman's Wharf and the tram back to the boat.

Disembark the ship in Victoria, BC was a mess, on previous trips, lifts gateway were disabled for the platform as a gateway for guests can be aligned from the upper deck and not dropped by the elevator at the beginning of the crowd that allows newcomers to move in front of other guests who had been waiting patiently for the gateway that is placed and opened for disembarkation. In contrast, the Guests who did not feel the need to wait in line were allowed to move in front of other guests and went to be in place by the director of activities, this really hit a nerve for me.

When we reached our final port of Vancouver, BC things moved very well. Although we had wait for the group expected to be called one of the rooms and enjoyed some Seattles best coffee served by a lovely young lady who gave me the news that the Vision of the Seas will take over the routes that 3-Night/4-Night Baja Monarch of the Seas is currently in the next year, this means that I will have several more visits to make the vision and the best place for a weekend getaway at this time.

While I identified a lot of negatives in this review general we did have fun, but we can see several areas where the crew of the Vision of the seas could be improved if this is a reflection of his normal attitude. I hope we can schedule a trip on the vision when you are on a regular schedule and we can see what a trip would then be like.

Our adventure continues for the holidays with a night cruise on the Norwegian Star and a trip home on Amtrak Cascades, so watch for reviews of these trips.
