American Beer Brands

What’s the difference between German and American beer?
I’m doing a research project for Deutsche Klasse and I need some information about beer. I also need to know: how many types of German beer there are, top producers/brand names, and how often it’s drank/when, where, or for special occasions.
Many of the American beer originates from German immigrants. Germ, ans have been brewing beer much longer and have a tighter tradition tied to beer. Germans for many years, before it was repealed, had a law that governed what made up a beer. The USA never had such a law. The beer that the German immigrants brew in the U.S. eventually became a very light beer made with as much as hal rice or corn. So when taken as a generally sense German beer (19033-1978) was far more flavorful than American beer. The opposite might be true today with all the craft beers in U.S. Most Americans understand the beer world better than most Germans. We understand Germany has great beer but they do not understand we have some that are better. This is true at a resent beer event in Germany where the Sam Adams dark lager won over all the German dark lager in the own country with their own judges. Look out world USA is on its way up as a beer power.
Sorry but one post one question and thus one answer.
